Local Information

Gateforth is a small village and civil parish located in North Yorkshire, approximately 4 miles south-west of the town of Selby.

The Parish includes the main village, focused on the Village Green, and a small community surrounding Gateforth Hall.  Most of the Parish is farmland, with active farms in the village. At the 2011 census, the village population was 240. If you would like to take a look around our village, then "The Village Idiot" made a video of Gateforth in October 2021.

For more information about the parish of Gateforth, please take a look at the Parish History and Parish Boundary pages.

If you're new to the Village, we have provided a "Welcome to Gateforth" leaflet which provides information on some of the key aspects from this site.

We've also compiled a number of self guided walks in and around the village. Unfortunately, as most of the walks cross farmland or involve dirt tracks, the are unaccessible to wheelchair users.

Finally, to support our local businessess, we've started to compile a list of Gateforth and other local businessess.
