The Parish Charter sets out how Parish Councils we will work together with North Yorkshire Council for the benefit of local people in maintaining and improving local services and facilities and influencing and lobbying on future local development.

North Yorkshire Council values the standing that Parish Councils, Town Councils, City Council and Parish Meetings have amongst their residents. There is a closeness to residents and we are the first tier of local government to the communities you serve. This compliments North Yorkshire Councils role as the democratically accountable body, answerable to Government, to deliver national policy and the priorities as set out in the Council Plan.

Together North Yorkshire Councils joint vision is to build on North Yorkshire’s natural capital, strong local economy and resilient communities, to improve the way local services are delivered and support a good quality of life for all.
